Hahn appears to be winning CA-36 in special election

"Hahn takes CA-36 in special election"

UPDATE (11PM): "With nearly 30% of precincts reporting in Los Angeles County, The Daily Dues is prepared to call the California 36th Congressional Special Election for Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn (D)."

Warning: This seems to be a Right wing, sour grapes website - but even they are calling it for Hahn.

1. That is GREAT news.
If that man had won.........this district would have been fucked over. He does NOT represent the majority of the people here.

I know he expected to lose, but now he has name recognition. I know he'll be back.

What a relief.

2. Thus tweet JUST IN, seconds ago from Nate Silver
fivethirtyeight Nate Silver
Hahn (D) now well ahead in #CA36. Same-day votes much better for her than mail ballots. Could wind up with 58-59% of the vote.

5. Me too -
Earlier tonight, his team was bragging that if Hahn only won by single digits, it was really a symbolic win for him.

She will likely win by double digits - let's see how he spins that.

7. I'm not surprised at this.
Torrance is quite conservative; a lot of Huey people live there.

Damn, in single digits. You KNOW they'll spin this to make Huey look good.

But it is STILL a victory.

*whew*

9. Did you see the report
that the dirty tricksters called voters today and said that the election was postponed due to the death of Hahn's mother?
DESPICABLE.

10. I sure did see it.
I got it in an email.

Plus there was a letter to the various legal folk of the county so they would know what was going on.

I never thought I'd see such scummy tactics in our district. NEVER.

11. Here is link to the voter suppression activities:
"As voters headed to the polls Tuesday to decide a hard-fought special congressional election in the South Bay area, attorneys for Democrat Janice Hahn filed complaints alleging that supporters of her opponent, Republican Craig Huey, were trying to suppress turnout of her voters.

In a letter sent Tuesday to the Los Angeles County district attorney, the U.S. attorney in Los Angeles and the California attorney general, Hahn lawyers Stephen J. Kaufman and Steven J. Reyes asked for immediate investigations into "voter suppression activities" in the 36th Congressional District race.

The attorneys said several voters reported receiving telephone calls Monday night telling them the election had been postponed to Wednesday at Hahn's request ,and others were given wrong polling place addresses."

12. The Republicans had better distance themselves from the secessionist talk...
or it'll be a sweep of epic proportions in the next election.
