Is North Dakota Really a State?
An 82-year old Grand Forks man has pointed out a constitutional flaw that questions whether North Dakota has ever been a state.

John Rolczynski points out the original state constitution left out the executive branch, the Governor and other high ranking officials when it explains who needs to take the oath of office. Rolczynski says that puts the state constitution in conflict with the federal one, making it invalid.

This spring, Senator Tim Mathern of Fargo introduced a bill to fix the constitution's wording.
North Dakota voters will need to approve the constitutional amendment in November of next year.

26. It's Canada's Appendix
And like the other appendix you don't care about it until it is inflamed and swollen with disease and threatening to kill you.

2. If given a choice
would North Dakota voters prefer to become part of Canada?
Might start a trend.

4. If its not a State it doesn't have Senators
but observers in congress.

I wonder if some hot shot lawyer will go after this snafu

I bet it will be grandfathered in somehow.

Of course it's not a state, it's a buffer zone between the US and Canada to keep Kansans from moving northward and crossing over into Canada!!!

Ha ha ha!!!!!

6. Merge the two Dakotas, save on administrative costs. The new state would
would be one of the nation's largest in area, but with only about 1.5 million people. DAKOTA!

24. That Would Be Ok With Me
The Carolinas, too! And, maybe even Rhode Island and Connecticut into one state. And we can combine Delaware and Maryland.

Just kidding, sort of. But, there are some odd choices as to which land areas are states and which are just big giant states.

7. ND should return any benefits they've been receiving immediately!
And a star should be removed from the flag until this is fixed.

How the Nation’s Only State-Owned Bank Became the Envy of Wall Street

— By Josh Harkinson

Bank of North Dakota is the only state-owned bank in America —what Republicans might call an idiosyncratic bastion of socialism. It also earned a record profit last year even as its private-sector corollaries lost billions.

9. Ah, so that explains why they're under attack
The criminals can't steal from them, so that makes them "socialists".

North Dakota may not have much else worthy of note, but the state bank is a great example that all the other states should really follow.
