"...so I guess it's our turn."
San Diego police helicopters slash flying time

SAN DIEGO — San Diego’s police helicopters that patrol the city’s skies for missing people and criminals on the run have cut their flying hours this month after losing at least $1.5 million in state and federal funds, officials said.

-snip-

“It’s certainly caused some frustration because it’s a very valuable resource (officers) are used to getting,” the 14-year department veteran added. “We can help them reduce manpower hours on something as simple as looking for a missing person or juvenile. But everyone understands the tough economic times, and everyone has had to make some concessions, so I guess it’s our turn.”

So here's my question: When is it the billionaires' turn? Will it take a criminal on the loose to break in to a gated community and wreak havoc because there were no helicopters to track and aid in the apprehension?

A sad state of affairs, my friends. So sad.

:grr:

1. Sorry, billionaires don't count...
They can afford to sit this one out. Oh, and they can also afford to buy the best congress-critters money can buy to ensure the game continues by their rules.

2. Welcome to the New Feudalism
The barons and lords will remain safe and secure within the guarded gates of their luxury castle communities while all us peasants are left to fend for ourselves...so long as we obdiently work the lord's fields, pay our rent and taxes, and fight in our masters' pointless crusades.

3. So basically
it's "serf's up" in San Diego? I know it's not a laughing matter (boy, do I know) - but didn't that operating model pretty much prove to be unsustainable? I guess that doesn't deter the ruling class from trying it, huh?

As a side note, I posted this same OP in the comments section of the local paper. This is the reply I awoke to:

"Why should a billionaire be forced to care? Some do an some don't. Why are you so concerned with other people's business. They have their stuff and you have your stuff. "

How do you fight back when the 'victims' don't realize they're being screwn?
