5. Privatizing Public Education - sound familiar?
http://www.alecexposed.org/wiki/Public_Education

How ALEC bills privatize public education & crush teacher's unions:

* Creating a scheme to deem public schools "educationally bankrupt" to rationalize giving taxpayer dollars to almost completely unregulated private schools, rather than addressing any problems.

* Eliminating tenure for teachers in favor of "performance," allowing districts to fire older teachers in favor of lower-cost young teachers.

* Taking charter school authorization away from local school boards in favor of a statewide advisory committee, that a governor can pack with pro-voucher people.

7. ALEC - American Legislative Exchange Council
ALEC - American Legislative Exchange Council
Limited Governments, Free Markets, Federalism

Their top banner at their website, www.alex.org says this. Doesn't sound "non-partisan" to me.

I've known about them for some time. When it's hard to roll Congress into passing legislation they want, they go to the state legislatures which are much, much easier to roll.

Reducing citizen's rights, empowering corporate and professional criminals, and removing taxation from corporations and the wealthy. Those are their goals.

All "tort reform" type movements, purchasing health insurance "across state lines" movements, and things like that are developed by ALEC and pushed by them.

10. Publicopoly
http://www.alec.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=publicopoly

The actual ALEC website has a game called "Publicopoly" or how to take over public assets.

http://www.inthesetimes.com/article/11603/publicopoly_exposed

Though the specifics are secret and “restricted to members,” ALEC openly advocates privatizing public education, transportation and the regulation of public health, consumer safety and environmental quality including bringing in corporations to administer:

• Foster care, adoption services and child support payment processing.

• School support services such as cafeteria meals, custodial staff and transportation.

• Highway systems, with toll roads presented as a shining example.

• Surveiling and detaining convicted criminals.

• Ensuring the quality of wastewater treatment, drinking water, and solid waste services and facilities. (After all, when someone mentions a safe and secure public water supply, the voter’s next immediate thought is: “Only if it’s cost-effective!”)
