3. I am disabled and live among those who are dependent upon food stamps. |
|
One day, we shall arrange a meeting of all those dependent upon food stamps, and those who fund the unworthy while cutting from those who truly need it. I'm sure that they'd love to share their special interest funding with the truly needy.

4. These people really ARE fucking idiots, aren't they? |
|
Don't they realize that - aside from being a tool for basic goddamn survival for millions in this depression - food "stamps" (not really stamps anymore) are also a direct form of economic stimulus, as they represent a form of guaranteed economic spending which keeps food producers and food retailers (grocery stores) in business. Which in turn saves a lot of jobs in those industries.
Same is true of unemployment compensation, for that matter. These things should be increased not cut, because every last cent of it would go back into the economy.

10. I was just going to post that... |

That the demand for produce would be a better way of spending to help farmers than to just give them cash.

I hate to say it, but I think they are driven more by their hatred of liberals and liberalism than anything else. This is what leads them to take such absurd and/or cruel positions, precisely because they know it will get liberals angry.

5. Now that just doesn't make sense |
|
 If you cut food stamps (TANF) in THESE times - but you keep and/or increase farm subsidies - what actually DOES make it to the store shelves . . . will just rot because less can afford to buy it.
Or is the idea to backfill the recent loss of immigrant migrant farm workers (think South Carolina) with TANF recipients?
Republicans are such ass clowns.

The food stamps ARE an agricultural subsidy. That's the hidden purpose of food stamps.

15. Oh, don't worry about the people on food stamps |
|
It's perfectly okay to eliminate food stamps.
The people on food stamps will simply turn to crime to make money to buy food.
When they commit crimes, they'll be arrested, which not only gives work to cops, judges, lawyers, bailiffs and all the other people in the legal system, it also adds to the rolls at private prisons across America after they get thrown in jail. And as we all know, what's good for Corrections Corporation of America is good for the country.
Plus, while they're in jail they get free food, free medical care, free dentistry and free educations that law abiding citizens do not receive, so the criminals really are the lucky ones.
The only problem is many of our poor do not wish to learn to commit crimes, hence are not patriotic because by not committing crimes they won't help all the poor downtrodden public defenders and private-prison guards to make money to care for their own families.
(I didn't insert the sarcasm tag here because way too many Republicans think this way.)
