I wish I were wrong... but it seems that is the kind of precipice they are willing to go.

Best case... SOMEHOW they fix this and raise it... worst case... 2008 will be a walk in the park. Been there done that. and it is not nice. Yes, this could very well sink the World Economy into the kind of depression we have not seen since 1929. No, this is not scary talk... this is a fact.
