When the escapees are captured, they eventually will join the exhibit at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

Officials have tracked them through the snow, snaked cameras into drain pipes to keep an eye on one and now want neighbors to be on the lookout for other strays.

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has located only four of the 11 black-tailed prairie dogs that escaped from their temporary housing a few weeks ago.

Yesterday, zoo officials asked their Powell neighbors to watch for the critters, just in case they've strayed from the zoo grounds.

Here's what to look for: squirrel-type animals that are about 12 inches long, weigh 1 to 3 pounds and have 2- to 3-inch tails.

They're not dangerous, officials say, adding that no one should try to capture one without help.
