It is a variation of The Front Page. "The film stars Cary Grant as Walter Burns and Rosalind Russell as Hildy Johnson and features Ralph Bellamy as Bruce Baldwin. It is noted for its rapid-fire dialogue." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/His_Girl_Friday

Hands down, my favorite version of the play adapted for screen. It make any other version seem to run in slow motion. I've also seen the 1931 version and it is not in the same league.
