Kevin Bacon did not die in Queensland - rumours send internet into spin

QUEENSLAND Police have reassured Kevin Bacon fans that the American actor is not dead after bizarre rumours surfaced overnight that he had died in a car crash near Ipswich.

Police staff received numerous calls from American journalists overnight, including one from Entertainment Tonight, after several websites reported that Bacon had died in a single vehicle crash between the western suburbs of Ipswich and Willowbank outside Brisbane while holidaying in the area.

"We have no idea how the rumour started but my colleague had lots of calls overnight," a QPS spokeswoman said.

"We checked and thankfully there were no Kevin Bacons injured or deceased overnight."
