‘This is George W. Bush’s debt’
By Steve Benen
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/political-animal/2011_07/this_is_george_w_bushs_debt030859.php#

For those who can’t watch clips from your work computers, Scarborough, the former Republican congressman, argued, “Let’s make no mistake about it right now: increasing this debt ceiling? This is George W. Bush and the Republican Party’s debt.

“Five years from now? It’s Barack Obama’s. But right now, this is what happens when you spend the type of money you spend from 2001 to 2009…. This is what we have been led to in 2011. This is George W. Bush’s debt…. You can’t just put this on Barack Obama.”

Now, to a certain extent, Scarborough is only telling part of the story. From his perspective, Bush-era fiscal irresponsibility is the result of reckless spending, and it’s a point with merit. Republicans paid for two wars, health care expansion, and a new education law without even trying to pay for any of it. What Scarborough neglects to mention is that the debt spiraled because of tax cuts, which the GOP also didn’t try to pay for.

But the host’s larger point is accurate and important. Those complaining most about raising the debt ceiling don’t fully appreciate the fact that Democrats aren’t the ones who created this mess.

7. Democrats rarely bother answering back the Republicans' lies with the truth. I wonder
if the Republicans appreciate this extra gift from the Dems! When you
don't answer lies with the truth, it helps the lies spread faster and further.

I was telling my wife why haven't the Dems. and Obama just come out and tell the public what the rethugs are doing to us. America is not just a place.....its the people thay live here. You can't separate one race of people and call it america (like Sarah Palin does)...America is every legal citizen in its continent. The rethugs only purpose is to destroy America by hook or by crook. THEY ARE THE MOST EVIL PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD IN MY OPINION.

6. I saw that this morning. Then Joe
blamed Obama for not presenting a budget. He said the Republicans were the ones trying to present answers. It looked a little heated on the show this morning so we changed to espn to keep the house calm.

9. And let's don't forget that several administrations including Obama's
have shut their eyes to a lot of corruption in high places.
