If News Corp hacked the phones of 9/11 families, Fox News is finished
There are few universally sacred cows in American politics these days, but the families of the victims of 9/11 are among them -- conservative pundits Ann Coulter and Glenn Beck notwithstanding.

So with the bombshell that News of the World reporters may have sought not only to hack into their cell phone records and voice mails but to bribe a former NYPD officer to help, the U.S. government finally got engaged in doing more than posturing.

Of course, a fair bit of posturing – some of it deserved – was clearly going to be the end result of the News Corp scandal here, even if the scandal itself remained confined to British soil. After all, News Corp is the parent company of the politically-divisive Fox News, and any whiff of scandal was going to be red meat for an exhausted and increasingly demoralised Democratic base in need of something else to think about.

<snip>

We can only hope...

2. I don't think the right would let FOX "News" go. Someone would
attempt to save it, even at the cost of a few billion.

4. Imagine if Fox News actually had a progressive rather than a destructive regressive agenda.
Wouldn't it be wonderful!

3. It's pretty to think so, isn't it?
I keep hoping there are disgruntled former (or even current) FUX employees who are ready to spill the beans.

7. spin doctor solution
:sarcasm:
fox news reports that information gained by phones from 9/11 families show a large amount of
non patriotic
treasonous
terrorist
LIBERAL
conversations
repeats message in sound bits (1/8th of a sound 'byte'...so the 'rully' dumb people can remember it, ok so it was a bad attempt at humour)

and was done in cooperation with intelligence gathering authorities for good old apple pie, flag, baseball, mom patriotic reasons
'plastic smile and hairspray hairdo with blank eyes on anchor person'

3 months later first 9/11 family is shipped to gitmo for interrogation and stripped of their US citship
who watches the media? no one, the market will self regulate

end sarcasm

9. Well, Brooks resigned
and essentially admitted she was aware of the phone hacking.

They certainly are starting to get a lot of negative attention. I'm reminded of a saying that involves "reaping" and "sowing".

10. Fox could show Murdoch fucking the 9-11 victims on live TV...
... while chanting a prayer to Satan and eating aborted BBQ babies and the viewers would just shrug and claim it was photoshopped and then blame CNN and MSNBC.

Murdoch is bullet proof in the USA.
