A RWer on Facebook actually just said this to me in response to my posting about the false equivalency of rhetoric from the right and left. I'll post it without comment, because it speaks for itself:

Blaming Sarah Palin (of whom I am not much of a fan BTW) for this is like blaming J.D. Salinger for Mark David Chapman. Delusional people don't need motivation. And I remind you that Lee Harvey Oswald was a leftist and Sirhan Sirhan an Arab. What figurehead or ideology can we blame for those crimes?

1. Of course delusional people need motivation. It's just at a different level than "sane" people.

The Salinger/Chapman connection shows that motivation may be unintentional.

What Palin did for Loughner was give him a target intentionally.

on the right. "Dead to me" doesn't in anyway advocate someone actually shooting her. Not any kind of threat at all.
