Sagging Teabags

BVP-affiliated Freedom Jamboree cancelled
By Lynda Waddington | 07.14.11 | 10:23 am

A scheduled Kansas City, Kan. tea party event of which Iowa’s Bob Vander Plaats served as vice chairman has been cancelled. Organizers have cited financial difficulties as the reason for the cancellation.

“Our event committee was ultimately faced with either going forward now, and initiating substantial contracting fees with the inherent risk of accruing potential debt for our organizers, while inconveniencing those participating and attending; or instead, canceling and returning all donations and delegate registration fees- none of which have yet been obligated or spent. The later choice was the only fiscal position the committee could honorably take in light of the expected funding sources, which did not materialize as anticipated,” wrote Rev. William Temple, chairman of the Tea Party Founding Fathers’ Freedom Jamboree and National Straw Poll Convention.

The group drew national attention in early May for the event when it held a press conference objecting to a raise in the debt-ceiling in Washington, D.C. and used a banner for the event as its back drop. Vander Plaats, chief executive of The Family Leader, and Matt Reisetter, also affiliated with The Family Leader, took part in the press conference.

“Everything was set up,” said William Temple, one of the organizers, told the Kansas City Star. “It was just the tea parties themselves weren’t prepared to spend the money to travel and bring their families.” ............(more)

2. Apparently, promoting public policy that is against middle-class interests is
having a hard time drumming up support. Go figure.

5. This is precisely why it was never a "grassroots" thing

When the puppet-masters are providing a swanky bus with boxed lunches for everyone, and they are paying for the gas to cart them to all the "venues"...and probably handing out the signs or at least the materials to make them, people liked that plan, but now that there is no imminent election , the Kochs and other rich vermin, are not handing out money anymore to the peons.

Shame on most of the media for not making this the issue, instead of following these "extras" all over the place as if they were the stars of a show..
