Husband, inlaws threaten to sell unborn baby for $5K, mom says

A 19-year-old pregnant woman has accused her husband and in-laws of battering her and threatening to sell her baby for $5,000, Hollywood police reports say.


Pamela Stanley claimed Jacob Mitchell, 20, and his parents, Shirley John, 42, and Steven Robert Carr, 41, attacked her when she was 34 weeks pregnant. All three were arrested Wednesday, and each has been charged with one count of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman.

At the hearing, a woman who identified herself as Stanley's mother told the judge that her daughter will be giving birth soon and is scared. She said that despite a restraining order issued last month, Mitchell has been continuously calling her daughter.


County Judge Joseph Murphy ended the hearing by telling Mitchell, John and Carr there would be harsh consequences if they ignore his orders and attempt to contact Stanley.
