2. Murdock does not have a FCC license. |
|
Held by multi-layer corporations which are publicly owned. Murdoch is a shareholder. If Murdock were convicted of a crime it would have no meaning to the corporation.

5. Fox "News" also does not have a license because.. |
|
Edited on Fri Jul-15-11 02:49 PM by wtbymark
cable-only stations (this includes Direct and Dish) are not required to have an FCC license because they are not a 'broadcast station' and therefore do not use the public 'airwaves'
on edit: now Fox Broadcasting channel (Simpsons, Family Guy, Football etc.) has at least a few hundred licenses. You could go after this channel, but it would not touch Faux newz.

4. Considering how the laws were bent to allow him to become a US citizen |

and changed to allow him to build his media empire in the 1990s, nothing would surprise me. :(

7. Surely you don't think the FCC licenses are in his name, right? |
|
The corporation holds those licenses. Nothing that happens to Murdoch will change the licensing. He'll just sell of his holdings in the corporations and move to some nice beach. Seriously.

and others the license can and will be challenged. The Feds can also have the license taken if his company is in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Look out!

10. thats only for Family Guy & Football |
|
I will reiterate: Fox News channel does not have an FCC license (even if re-broadcast on airwaves, the license would be the re-broadcasting station's)
Im currently sitting as a cheif engineeer of a TV station that is on DirectTV and I will tell you we dont have a license, never had one, 4th year on the air. This is considered pay-per-view

12. then what license are you talking about? |
|
theres only 2 ways I see Faux going down. The DOJ would either have to revoke News Corp.'s charter, or News Corp has to go belly up.

Those are "real" broadcasters.
