Bob Fertik's Plea to Progressives to end the Tea Party madness by Fighting Back:
Edited on Fri Jul-15-11 03:26 PM by Cal33
The right-wing Tea Party minority is dominating the debate. It's time for the progressive Job Party majority to be fighting back! First, tell Congress to protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security and balance the budget by ending the wars, slashing corporate welfare, and taxing the rich:
Pass the Progressive Caucus People's Budget! <>

Second, we're helping launch an exciting new grassroots movement called REBUILD THE DREAM this weekend at house parties across the nation. It's led by Van Jones, the Green Jobs champion who was driven out of the White House by FOX News lies. Over 15,000 activists have signed up for 1,500 meetings in over 400 Congressional Districts. Find an American Dream House Meeting near you.

Finally, let's protest right outside our Representatives' local offices next Wednesday at lunchtime Brown Bag Lunch Vigils (BBLV) led by Progressive Democrats of America. Make signs like:

* Hands off Medicare!
* Hands off Medicaid!
* Hands off Social Security!
* End Corporate Welfare!
* Tax the Rich!
* End the Wars!
* Create Jobs Now!

Go here to see if there's a BBLV near you. If there isn't, start one here. Look up:

We're in a genuine crisis and there's no time to hesitate and no excuse to stay quiet. Stand up and speak out now!

Bob Fertik

2. Good for you. When I click on "Go Here" to attend a BBLV near you,
as well as "click here to start one," I draw a blank on my monitor.
Do you get anything on your screen? If so, would you please help
by making the links? I'll refer to interested people to your message
number on how to get there. Many thanks.

3. Went with AARP petition. Wrote to Hoyer!! They have the message.
I signed the AARP petition earlier this week and have contacted by congressman and woman. So, it is up to everyone who cares about this country to stop the repub thugs in their tracks. By the way, the revolt began in WI with the first of the recall elections. Rick Snyder is next and then there is WALKER. Too bad FL has to tolerate Rick Scott for three more years, but hopefully they can do something with their legislature before then. Remember Benton Harbor, MI is the poster child for depraved the GOP is. It is a real life experience of TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION and more insulting, if possible, the CEO (second generation heir) of Whirlpool felt free to tell the people of Benton Harbor, if they didn't stop protesting and embarrassing the company, he would move the jobs. Imagine that! We are back to where Mr. CEO thinks his corporate empire extends beyond his factory doors. Wonder if the GOP has something to do with that??

8. Huh. Norquist was right for once in his life.

9. Among the list of co-signers I see many other left-wing organizations. I
don't think that because Norquist is for something, it's got to be
automatically wrong. Even Norquist could be occasionally right
from sheer happenstance. The devil himself couldn't be wrong 100%
of the time. I imagine those left-wing organizations objected to
some portion of the bill. A wild guess of mine, for instance,
would be that some of them objected to making those who refuse to
buy into private insurance pay a fine.

10. Bob Fertik is fighting right now for the points given below. Don't you agree with them?

Sometimes we do form our opinions based on name-association -- even if it should happen to be only
a one-time event. I think it's more important to take in the whole history of what that person
has tried to accomplish -- including what he is trying to achieve right now. Bob Fertik has a
long history of fighting for liberal causes.

11. Oh, I totally agree with him but there are quite a few Dems who believe that if you find
common cause with Norquist on one issue or two, then your opinion is tainted on every other issue and your reputation as a Democrat is suspect.

Sorry to derail your thread with my feeble attempt at a joke.

And thanks for the OP.

13. Sorry I didn't pick up on your joke. On second thoughts, it could very well
have the effect of bringing out the fact that there are a few Dems. who might not even be
aware that they are basing their opinion-formation relying too much on the name-association
of a one or two-time event, and too little on the entire history of the person's political
efforts. And thanks.
