Madison -- Folk singer Arlo Guthrie surprised protesters at the state Capitol Friday by making an appearance at their regular noontime singalong.

Guthrie performed at the Barrymore Theatre Thursday night and joined in the Solidarity Singalong outside the Capitol, playing guitar and singing an adapted version of "This Land Is My Land," which was written by Arlo's father Woody Guthrie.

Here's the video:

1. Is Arlo still a Republican? He supported Ron Paul for President in 2008.
He's been a Libertarian/Republican for a while.

I read where he said that Ron Paul was the only candidate who would have signed the Constitution. Funny, because Barack and Hillary would not have been allowed in the ROOM!

2. I wonder if that's not a bit of put-on by Arlo.
Hard to think of Arlo as Republican.

3. He claims to be a conservative repub. now.
Which was hard to believe given his family and background. May we hope he has seen the light?
