1. I'm watching. I'm scared.
This is going to be a HUGE problem! It also explains why the GOP is ignoring the polls and doing whatever the hell they want - they know that by 2012, it's going to be very difficult to vote.

Unless states are giving away a free voter photo ID to each registered voter, how is that requirement not a poll tax? Voters have to PAY for something or they won't be allowed to vote! How is that legal? Why aren't the Dems fighting back on this while there's still time?

14. This is the problem... our side never knows how to fight back
You want mandatory ID? Do what places like Mexico do... every so often... they have booths everywhere, where people can get their free Voting ID card. It's taken on the role of a national ID... but serious... if our side wanted to, it could be fought. You want it? You claim this is a problem? Ok, fine... bring poll monitors (and we do not have the cleanest of elections) and ISSUE FREE IDs...

There are days I wonder.

For the record Mexico did that since they did have an issue with voter fraud... voting box stuffing and other tactics.

Fortunately several congress-critters have alerted DOJ about this.

Sorry...there are 90 year olds out there who don't drive and don't keep their ID's current, no reason to, but they still vote.

11. Not me....
In fact, my own is expired. The last time I went to get it renewed, I couldn't because I didn't have my birth certificate. I don't drive, never write checks, and don't drink.
Maybe useful under those circumstances, but not really very important. An elderly person who has stopped driving may be in the same situation. Imagine trying to track down your BC if you are woman who has been married more than once, born in a different state, not born in a hospital...
Or like my friends who use wheelchairs and have never driven and never bothered to get a state ID.
This hurts a lot of people.

18. I know several seniors, including my mother, who don't have a photo ID.
Some never had a driver's license. Some did, but don't drive anymore, so they didn't bother to spend the money on a renewal.

My mother is 76 years old and never had a driver's license. She could get a Non-Driver ID from the state DMV, but that costs money. She's on a fixed income and every penny counts! Since she doesn't drive, getting to the DMV would be very difficult for her. It she ever needed to get one, she has children who could help her with the cost and the transportation ... but not everyone has help like that. :(

15. No, not everybody
there are kids who do not, and older citizens, and of course minorities.

Like 45% of adult black males in OH don't

12. It's surprising that Holder
has seemed to show no interest in this at all; or Obama either, for that matter. When Acorn went down, that seemed to kick the door open.

19. Until a "voter ID" card is free to all, requesting one is a de facto poll tax.
And therefore unconstitutional. They must also be made available at a distance no further away than the local polling place, to defer transportation costs.

Why is this difficult to understand?
