Raising the Debt Ceiling is the JOB of Congress & does NOT have to be LINKED in ANY way to future |

budgets. If missed, Americans should remember that it will be the fault of THEM!

Was raised Seven times under Reagan Seven Times under Bush Maybe 4 times under Clinton. He began to run a surplus so it was not needed in later parts of Adm.
I do not remember any crises. Congress grumbled and raised.

other than that he wants a cover for cutting Social Security and Medicare.
I think Obama is fishing from donations from extremely right-wing guys like Pete Peterson and others.
Well, he can do without my support.
He seems to prefer to play on Pete Peterson's team, not on my team.

Republicans thought that they'd try to attach deficit reduction to their approval of the rise in the debt ceiling. They are the ones who have coupled the two, not Obama. They have the majority in the House of Representatives. If they want to do this, they'll do this. Obama's begging would do nothing whatsoever to change that dynamic. This is their game, and he's playing the hand he's been dealt.
