from Richard A. Viguerie,
Chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, regarding the shooting in Tucson, Arizona of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:

"I was with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords on a panel just last week at Renaissance Weekend in Charleston, South Carolina. Gabby is a warm, upbeat, and cheerful woman who I've been blessed to know. . .

"We are all Americans, and there're no Democrats, Republicans, conservatives, or liberals at times like these. When the violent acts of an individual aim to tear our society apart, they instead cause Americans to come together and unite stronger than ever.

4. One of the better comments I've seen from the Right, BUT...
They have to do better. They have to call out their own for the dehumanizing hate speach that has been spewing virtually exclusively from the Right. They have to acknowledge a pattern of use of force and threats of use of force in a political context that almost exclusively has come from the Right. Some adults on the Right have to own up and take some responsibility for the climate they have fed.

Having said that I appreciate that Viguerie spoke of Giffords as a real live and admirable human being who positively contributes to the world he lives in. Compare that with someone like Ann Coulter, who no longer even represents the extreme right of the Republican Party.

5. Hi, Tom!
:hi:

They have a LOT of work to do, and so do we all, like accepting apologies sincerely given, among other things, as well as doing whatever we might about direction and power of media.
