Sarpy County Democrats Honor Fallen Soldier

The heat index will be about 110. Not sure if I can get there in time because of a previous commitment.

On Sunday, July 17th @ 2:00 p.m., there will be a ceremony to unveil the Commemorative Street signs posted to honor fallen soldier Jeffrey Chaney. The public is welcome to attend and help honor this local hero. Refreshments will be served following the ceremony. July 17th is the three year anniversary of Chaney's death.

The ceremony will be held at the Church of the Holy Spirit on the corner of Thomas Drive and Victoria Avenue. The ceremony is currently planned to be held outside on the lawn of the church to enable the family to physically unveil the signage.

The signage was made possible by a donation from the Sarpy County Democrats.

US Senator Ben Nelson, Councilwoman Carol Blood and Cliff Leach of the Patriot Guard Riders and the Chaney Family will be participating in the ceremony. The Strathdon Caledonia Pipe Band will be providing the music. The Offutt Airforce Base Honor Guard will be presenting the flags.
