Sportsman's Warehouse - America's Premier Outfitter
A little background on the outlet that outfitted sportsman Jared Loughner.

It's not the company's fault that they are legally selling shit that can kill 6 people in as many seconds to just about anyone who walks in the door. They're a legit business which provides a valuable service to the sportsmen of Arizona. What we need to prevent this kind of tragedy is not to simply make these guns less accessible, but a $100 billion Loner Identification Program to provide possibly ineffective counseling; another $100 billion program to provide parental counseling in How Not to Raise Mass Murderers, and frankly to all agree to be better people! Jared, is that *you*?

"Sportsman's Warehouse is an outdoor sporting goods retailer which operates in 14 states across the United States, including Alaska. Sportsman's Warehouse sells apparel, footwear, and gear which caters to sportsmen and sportswomen with interests in hunting, shooting, reloading, camping, fishing, and other outdoor recreational activities. The Sportsman's Warehouse trademark is "America's Premier Outfitter", which was adopted in 2005.

The company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in mid-2009, after filing in March."

1. Your point? They are a typical sporting goods store
Big 5, Gander Mountain, Cabellas, Wal Mart...the list goes on.

3. Ah, the "everybody's doing it" defense. Very popular during riots.
My bad.

7. Not at all. Its a perfectly legal and reasonable business and there are others in that niche
Next you will be blaming his teachers for teaching him to read...

9. Agreed. I can't think of anything more reasonable
than selling weapons which can kill 6 people in 6 seconds to anyone who walks in the door. We all "gotta make a buck", right? Even professors!

I forgot that there are others in that niche, and it's legal...therefore, it can't be morally reprehensible.

11. Those same items are also instrumental for the self defense of many
Has nothing to do with making a buck but saving lives. Yes they can and do get misused.

themselves...I think the NRA should play this up more.

22. Unlike you, I said nothing remarkably ignorant. I simply pointed out that you ...
made a false statement. Your feeble attempt to assume facts that you pulled directly from your ass is, however, amusing.

27. Let me amend it for you: "It was sweet for Gabrielle to take a shot to the head
so that others might be able to pursue their hobby".

Still waiting on how that makes any difference, given that six others were killed. Not holding breath.

31. Firearms are not just a hobby
I teach self defense, including shooting, to small groups, mostly GLBT and women. For them its not a hobby, its protection. Its hard to rape a prepared woman or bash an armed gay.

That should eliminate about what, 100,000 jobs nationwide...

6. They all have a choice whether to sell this shit.
Not selling it wouldn't cost a single job. Except maybe at Glock, maker of "Safe Action Pistols" (they might have to revise the "safe" part after yesterday).

12. Of course...it's the fault of the Unattributable Extended Magazine.
It's not my fault.
It's not ProgressiveProfessor's fault.
It's not Sportsman's Warehouse's fault.
It's not Sarah Palin's fault.
It's not Gabrielle Gifford's fault (except that she wasn't packing and ready to draw on everyone who approaches her)
It's not Jared Loughner's fault (no one can "help" being crazy)
It's not the NRA's fault.
It's not Glock's fault.

Run away! Run away!

I guess there's nothing we can do.

5. You apparently support laws that would have identified Jared Loughner early in K-12 and classified
him as a threat to society.

Would you support a personal GPS tracking implant so Loughner would always be under an all seeing eye as envisioned with the abolished Information Awareness Office but still covertly implemented?

10. You know what? Let me tell you something:
Obviously this post is going in the "let's get rid of all the guns and we'll have a utopia" direction.

Bullshit. There are a million more Loughners out there. If this situation keeps up (which it will) and there's more and more shootings (which there will be, thanks to people trying to incite riots like Palin and Beck), I frankly want to have something on my side to defend myself from the inbred slackjawed goobers that take it into their head to go shoot them some lieburuls for fun. I'm keeping my guns, thank you very much. When they knock on your door, you feel free to tell them how much more civilized you are than them. See how that works out for you.

Guns have been around for a long time. Mass murders by rightwing genetic flubs are a newer problem. Guns aren't responsible for yesterday. Incitement to riot by our media organizations are completely and totally what is to blame for yesterday.

18. You really don't understand, do you? Government is not obligated to protect an individual unless
she/he is in custody.

Self defense is a personal responsibility and it's your decision to surrender meekly to a criminal or defend yourself.

Handguns are the tool of choice for self-defense by 840,000+ sworn law enforcement officers and their right is a privilege granted by government, not a natural, inherent, inalienable/unalienable right possessed by law-abiding citizens.

23. Thank you, that's a fun one to tear apart in under two seconds.
* training is required to drive a car
* more difficult to purchase a car
* cars are far more expensive
* cars are necessary, not a hobby

Maybe you have the stats on how often cars are used as a murder weapon vs. guns? Seems the ratio would be fairly low.

28. Talk about being easy to shred...
- It is easier to buy a car than handgun.
No waiting period
No records checks,
Private party sales are always legal
Registration not required.
- Driving is a privilege
- Firearms ownership is a right
- Cars are not a necessity
- Self defense is not a hobby
- Some guns are more expensive that cars and certainly motorcycles
- Training is required to use a firearm

How many times is a car used as a murder weapon, vs. a gun?

Renders the rest of your post pretty much nonsense.
