Man With Obscenity On Forehead Tries To Cash Stolen Check
POSTED: 7:26 pm PDT July 13, 2011

UPDATED: 8:52 am PDT July 14, 2011

REDDING,Calif. -- A Shasta County inmate's picture has gone viral, not because of the crime he's accused of, but because of the tattoo across his forehead.

Investigators say 21 year old Patrick Brooks tried cashing a check from Cottonwood Bible Baptist Church at a check- cashing store on Bechelli Lane Monday. His mugshot shows the prominent tattoo, which features a four-letter word starting with the letter "f."

But store manager, Glenn Bassett got suspicious when he saw Brooks’ forehead which had an obscenity tattooed on it.

The church's telephone number had been crossed out on the check and another one was written in its place.

...a clear-cut case of an accidental lobotomy while he was having his tattoo etched upon his forehead. That and the fact that he don't look like any deacon I ever saw. I'm sure the judge will allow him to plead diminished capacity.

- It's a good thing he isn't black and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnHi9FBK0e8&feature=player_embedded">trying to cash a check from the same persons who wrote it to him......

But at least he'll have a place to stay for a while.

12. He may become the first elective face transplant
patient. He looks quite young to be so angry. I wonder who he will blame when the message on his forehead keeps him from being able to support himself in the future?

5. With that tattooed on his forehead, it's his only career choice
apart, perhaps, from "actor who plays dumb criminals".

13. If casting directors need a face like that they will
have it drawn on an actor in the makeup room. When "FU" is the opening statement, you leave yourself no room to bargain. Sad, really. Stupid, but sad.

9. You would think he'd be a shoo in for Wall Street, actually.
His tattoo expresses exactly what they say, and do, to all of us on a daily basis.

26. That tattoo is just pure irony, since it prevents him from being able to "practice" what he preaches
Even if he tries to pay for his pleasure, his message might give a prostitute sufficient reason to pause and think it over first.

_______

On a different note, when my Mom had her heart attack and subsequent open heart surgery last year, she spent a month in a rehab center/nursing home after she left the hospital. I was taking care of her financial stuff for her during that couple of months. This was something she has made contingency plans for since she had put me on her accounts as a signatory. I was amazed, as well as horrified, to realize very quickly that NOBODY ever questioned me writing checks on her account. Yes, I did get asked for an ID most of the time, but they just wrote down the information I gave them and handed over whatever I was buying. I had her credit cards and her checkbook, and not ONE freaking time did I get asked about the difference in our names (I sam married with a different last name) and nobody ever asked about the checks.

I suppose it is possible that since I was buying stuff for an 80 year old lady in a nursing home, nobody red flagged it (I wasn't buying big screen TVs or high ticket stuff) but even so, it creeped me out big time. I had NO idea how easy it is to pass checks that are not your own.
