I participated in both NYC marches against the Illegal Invasion of 2003. The ease with which NYC police barricaded streets, separated protest sections, re-directed pedestrians, and intimidated with horse patrols cannot be exaggerated nor should be now under-estimated.

but isn't that demand kind of vague?

we demand that Barack Obama ordain a Presidential Commission tasked with ending the influence money has over our representatives in Washington. It's time for DEMOCRACY NOT CORPORATOCRACY, we're doomed without it.

Okay, so the President creates a commission, you declare victory, and everyone goes home. The commission then dithers around for a few months or longer and maybe ends up proposing one or two weak reforms. Congress then rejects or waters down those reforms and you're left with basically nothing for all of your efforts.

There are dozens of these blue sky calls for activism. Almost none ever happen. Only those sponsored by major organizations or individuals with celebrity status have even a chance.
