2. Amazing at how the hospital trauma response was
I don't think many realize how significant and amazing it was--especially in what isn't considered a huge city.
Kudos to UMC. Very good work to my professional colleagues.

4. Trauma and acute care is one thing the US medical care system does really well.
But it can bankrupt you.

11. On a respirator with half her skull missing. I would call that still critical.

13. Here are the patient conditions and what they mean when you hear them talked about
You can actually be on a respirator with half your skull and still be in serious condition.

* Treated and Released — Patient was treated at facility and released.
* Undetermined — Patient is awaiting physician assessment or is currently being evaluated by a physician.
* Good — Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious and comfortable. Indicators are excellent.
* Fair — Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious, but may be uncomfortable. Indicators are favorable.
* Serious — Vital signs may be unstable and not within normal limits. Patient is acutely ill. Indicators are questionable.
* Critical — Vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits. Patient may be unconscious. Indicators are unfavorable.
* Death — Patient's death can be released only after the family is notified and after permission is granted from the family's legal representative.

11 patients total seen. 6 surgeries done. Only 1 patient remains critical, 3 - serious.

Congrsswoman was initially responsive to commands/able to follow instructions. Controlled bleeding. Removed bone frags. Not mch brain removed; did not move across brain\

\She is able now to follow simple commands!!!

Swelling always possible.

Happy when anesthesia lightened up, and they're happy with her course.

GUYS, THIS SOUNDS VERY GOOD TO ME, for now, docs 'optimistic,' and FOR THE FUTURE!

She's in a medically induced coma, = anesthesia, to allow for rest/recovery, and they move it up and down as necessary for procedures/recovery.

when reporters trying to take a political slant.
