1. Another fucking parasite on the peoples' resources there, eh?
The more we hear about them (Bachmans) the stranger their story gets.

2. Ummm doesn't Medicare/Medicaid demand that therapy meet certain standards?
Edited on Sun Jul-17-11 11:10 AM by cap
I mean these programs don't cover voodoo despite claims of psychological relief...or exorcism for that matter. I mean there are review boards that set the standards that look for evidence based care.

Isn't it fraud to bill for unapproved therapy?

I feel another "I am not a witch" moment coming.

6. I was discussing this with my husband this morning (an LCSW
here in Texas who serves a majority of Medicaid clients).

He was shocked that Bachman is not licensed because licensure is required here in Texas to be a Medicaid provider. However, I think the important distinction is that Medicaid is a state-administered program, so the requirements can vary from state to state. I was reading somewhere in the coverage of Marcus Bachman that Minnesota is one of the few states that allows mental health providers to practice without licensure. I wonder if this case will result in sufficient backlash for them to change their state policy.

3. Is this not the very definition of "waste, fraud, & abuse" in Medicare?
