Good to see a lot of Old Time DUers back at DU |
|
Even if for reasons of the insane wrangling over Deficit Reduction and alleged cuts to Social Security and Medicaid
Some of the same Grassroots personnel that helped turn a Majority of American's support against the War in Iraq, changed the belief of 85% of Americans that Saddam Hussein had any complicity in 911 as Bush/Cheney reported, put DEMs in the House and Senate in 2006 and Obama in the White House in 2008
Corp Tax Loopholes anyone ?

1. Guess i would count as a reactivated oldtimer... but |

I never really left. Read daily.
Just happens that I have a little additional time on my hands for the short term that allows for more active posting.
Yes, corporate loopholes, and the unwillingness of the GOP to give on any additional taxes is one of those issues that has (like the others you mention) started to shift public opinion.
However the speculation of changes that hurt most americans per SSI and Medicare formula has also started shifting public opinion.
From our political leaders and spokesfolks: On the right we have the politics of buffoonery merged with the politics of the plutocracy. On the left we have the politics of pragmatism morphing into the politics of corporatism. Depressing.

3. I've been posting a lot more and a lot more of my posts get deleted. |

I took a break from DU for a long time...but now I really feel like we never really exited the Bush years now, even if most of 2009 was suffused with inchoate hopes.

But I sure do miss Bob Boudelang, Angry American Patriot! (And the king of sarcastic political writing) Come back, Bobby!
Democratic Underground
Equal Time with Bob Boudelang "The DemoncRATS in NJ Have Cheated Voters Out of Voting Against Them!!" October 11, 2002 By Bob Boudelang, Angry American Patriot
At last we see what ruthless evil leftist socialistical LIEberals the DemocRAT party is! Imagine!
They have some nerve all right, running another candidate in New Jersey instead of the one Rush Limbaugh and Gordon Liddy and Bob Grant and Sean Hannity and Bill O. Reilly and the Washington Times and Ann Coulter and everybody called a crook. Now voters in New Jersey are cheated out of the opportunity to vote against Robert Torricelli and will vote for Frank Lautenberg instead. I blame the liberal media running dog press, which refuses to keep harping on Torricelli and instead is reporting about the new guy.
This is so unfair to what's his name, who is running on the Republican ticket. He is a fine patriot, even if no one has heard of him. He would of ended the horror of choice, put more guns on the street, and take the burden off industry to pay for the pollution it accidentally causes. Now instead the LIEberals and moderates in NJ will tyrannize the poor conservatives just because there are not many of them in NJ.
Is this fair? Do we want to live in America where the majority can do what they want just "because" they win an election with votes? Or do we want the kind of America George W. Bush and Dick Cheney and John Ashcroft (who is not a dangerous nut) and Pat Robertson and whoever he is in NJ stand for?

7. Just checking in with a hello, and to second your post -- |
|
I'm involved with some other Dem/liberal, writing/informational projects that take up the time once spent here. Am a daily lurker, and "recommender." What a time of highs and lows for all of us -- but still keeping hope alive for my President, my party and my country.
