New Disney Resort is Revealed
This place is beautifull! Here is a behind the scenes sneak-peek at Disney’s Newest Resort, Aulani. Scheduled to open in 44 days this Hawaiian themed resort is located in Ko’ Olina, on the island of Oahu. The concept and design is spearheaded by Walt Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde, renowned for his work on WDW’s Animal Kingdom. link at: http://www.disneybymark.com/

21. SO was Obama. That don't mean Obama wouldn't design a tacky resort...
like the creative director did.

It's 1965 hawaii ugly.

4. You can trash Disney all you want but they treat their employees pretty well.
And more jobs from a company that does this is always a good thing!

15.  I live in Anaheim and know several people who work/have worked for Disney.
And they've all had good things to say about their time there.

20. So is that why my brother in law who was dying of pancreatic cancer
Had to work up to the last two weeks of his life to keep his health insurance? Yeah, they treat their employees great. Believe that all you want. He'd worked for Disney for over twenty years but when he was dying they would not work with the insurance company to continue his coverage so he didn't have to drag himself to work every week.

The only concession he got during his decline was that he was allowed to take sick leave and vacation time the Fridays after his chemo treatments so he could recover enough to be able to work the next Monday. He tried to set up to work four ten hour days so he could take some vacation time with his family in his last year. Disney would not allow that flexibility so he really did not get very much quality time with his kids before the end. He got a year's worth of weekend puking, recovering from chemo, so he could be well enough to do a job that really didn't pay all that well.

His 18 year old daughter made more money being a greeter at a nightclub than Disney paid him after twenty years, even though he had worked his way up into a very responsible position. Disney does NOT treat their employees "pretty well" - not from what I have seen from knowing family and their friends who worked there. I think the treatment might be a step up from Walmart, but that is not saying much.

I have lived in Florida all my life and because of my relatives working at Disney I could have gone for free any number of times. I've never been to Disney and will never go to any Disney "attraction".

I guess it's the next step beyond icon for old Walt - lower-case god.

7. "In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room / In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room...
All the birds sing words, and the flowers croon,
In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room"

Which is as close as I guess I'll ever get to it. Pretty place, though.

17. Nice. Pity I'll never go.
Luckily, I've been to Hawaii. The REAL Hawaii. So real I saw a "Haoli Kapu" sign beside a trail going into the forest.
