Open restroom for public events

We need to let the public know that Walnut Grove Park near 153rd and Q Streets does not have open public restrooms. There was a padlock on the restrooms on July 3 during a Tea Party rally.

We told the Omaha Parks and Recreation Department that we needed Walnut Grove Park’s public restrooms opened but were told the restrooms are not open at the park.

I believe public restrooms in Omaha parks should be open for public events and especially on weekends.

I posted this on a forum with mostly tea party types, but, there's several of us liberals who routinely take them apart.

Here's what one of them responded with:

Rest rooms are a public health issue. You can't have people urinating and defecating in the bushes. In a public park, rest room should be provided. Park services, IMO are an acceptable use of public monies and essential to preserving many of our natural areas

To which I replied:

"Rest rooms are a public health issue." And public health care isn't a public health care issue too?

My evil streak is widening. I'm going to make myself part of a scientific study on how long it takes to turn into a complete asshole once you move to Arizona. Looks like 9.5 years. Many of you may remember I lost my job in the Omaha Parks Dept. in 2006 because of budget cuts. I posted the article in the paper with my photo of me sitting on a tractor mowing. FIVE park caretakers were let go that Fall. Opening and cleaning restrooms across the city were done by caretakers especially on weekends. The parks dept. has lost over 30 full time jobs in the last decade while increasing in size from annexations etc. Where was she when there was public discussion at the city council meetings about these jobs?
