Is there ANY chance that the Murdoch scandal MIGHT bring down Fox News here?
Might it trigger sponsors and advertisers to run away and bring down Teh Stupid Channel?

I'm talking anything, 5% chance would give me hope.

1. Yes. I'm usually pessimistic about things. But Ailes has had a long run, made lots of enemies
and Murdoch is old.

3. Please! Please!
They most likely have the same relationship with the NSA here as they do with MI5 and MI6 there.
Unfortunately, this puts them in a position to blackmail much of Washington as they presumably have
been doing in London, so bringing them down will be very difficult.

9. In regards to this shouldn't we be telling the FCC to pull their licenses
if there is evidence that they tapped phones in the USA? Help raise the pressure!

11. sure. the real question is, will it simply reemerge in a different guise?
i mean, the corporatists from europe's 1930s were completely destroyed, and yet look at the state of the u.s.a.

ailes, or even foxnews entirely, could be completely shut down.

but the greed and the stench of sulphur will return.

it always does.

I want to see Hannity and Fox and Friends out on the street, pan handling for coins or sleeping over at Rush Limbaugh's mansion.

The deeply entrenched extreme RW PTB will see to it that Fox News continues. Their own survival depends on it, so by any means necessary they will preserve their greatest media propaganda tool.

16. Maybe the stock will go down so badly, Murdoch will be forced
to sell for pennies on the dollar. CURRENT TV could take over, and it would be a wonderful news day! KO could staff it with whomever he sees fit, and I am thinking a lot of my favorites would be on non-stop. Somehow seems quite fitting, doesn't it?

Sam

19. A stock price drop wouldn't force him to sell; it would have to be a drop in revenue
A drop in stock price would slash his wealth, on paper; but since he has no intention of selling his/his family's controlling interest in News Corp, that doesn't matter that much. If he can keep the company going, then he can stay in control of it. So it needs enough income to be able to pay its debts. The failure of MySpace, and his need to sell it for next to nothing, will have hurt him a bit; really, though, a consumer boycott is needed to have any effect (of 20th Century Fox movies as well as Fox TV channels, I'd say).
