So, who are the progressives putting up against Obama?
I just want to know who to support in the Democratic primary.

Time's a wasting. I hope we have a candidate soon.

5. What does it matter? Corporatists' hatred will slime them to death, whoever it is
There are dozens of sane, functional, progressive Democratic politicians out there doing good work, and have been for decades. Yet a mention of any of them as presidential candidate produces not even laughter, but hatred - extremely personal hatred - from a surprising number of middle-of-the-road folks.

Personally I don't understand it. I can understand hatred for an utter slimeball like Santorum, and for a traitor or double agent, but there are only a few politicians that arouse real hatred in me, and they are all radical right-wingers - none are anywhere NEAR my own values.

7. Oh geez, give me a break.
Please. No one is putting up a candidate to run against Obama.

So why the post? Other than to get one hot flaming debate going that's totally meaningless and does nothing but stir up bad feelings in the DU community.

You know - another ideologues versus the moderates thread.

28. Who's bashing? It's a question that thus far has no answer.
So now something that isn't absolute music to certain ears is considered "bashing"?

What did I read somewhere on another thread? Oh...something about "If you can't take the heat..."

30. I have no intention of leaving the kitchen.
And yes, baiting people in this way amounts to bashing. Because, as usual, there are a number of other options besides running a challenger to an incumbent.

Maybe that's too nuanced for certain ears.

41. Since when is asking a question considered bashing?
Why is this not a legitimate question? If Obama shouldn't be the nominee, which seems to be the consensus, who is the candidate of choice?

45. I guess of the one's attacking me in this thread.
Very effectively, too. All these posts and views and still no answer.

I voted for Obama, but I'm certainly not satisfied with a lot of what has happened. I still have no health insurance and took a really crappy job when my unemployment ran out. Hell, I made more on unemployment. I'm open to looking at viable options.

But, instead, I get mocked and threatened with being kicked off the board. Oh well...

I wish he were, but he's not. I've know him for ten years, and the man does not lie.
He's still around, and still extremely busy, but is not interested in running for the
White House again.

29. We would love to have him
Preferrably in the Third District, or in the new 10th - depending on where it ends up being. I'm hoping it's around the Thurston county area (currently northern end of the 3rd) because I'm fucking tired of Vancouver pretending like it owns the district (that would be the suburb of Portland, not the Canadian city.)
