2. Doubtful, honestly

totally different media culture in the British tabloid press and American television news. I could believe that the New York Post may have engaged in similar practices, but then the Post is more a British-style tabloid paper. Fox News? Probably not so much (all we've seen re Fox News is that they "accessed phone records", which is not the same thing as "accessed voicemail/hacked into mobile phones").

9. You're making a pretty basically incorrect assumption there

Murdoch owns Fox, yes, and also owns the News of the World and the Sun, he doesn't run either directly though. The culture of the British tabloid press is quite different, the tactics used by the News of the World were and are probably pretty standard for the British tabloid press (employment of private detectives to access confidential information, etc). The fact that those tactics were used in the UK by the editors and reporters of tabloid newspapers doesn't mean that they were used in the US by Fox News (because the media culture is completely different; because Murdoch doesn't have the pull in the States he does in the UK, because he hasn't got the NYPD in his pocket the way it seems he did the Metropolitan Police in London, because American politicians by and large don't suck up to Murdoch-owned media and aren't beholden to Murdoch in the same way British politicians have been going back to John Major at least...there are plenty of reasons to think it's not very likely at all that the extent of the phone hacking and such extends to the other side of the Atlantic.

11. Fox News influences politics in the US, sure

but again, the differences in media culture between the tabloid press here in the UK, and broadcast news in the US, make me think it's quite extremely unlikely that similar tactics to those used by the News of the World were used by Fox News in the States.

I do feel that fox news used illegal means to push the murdoch agenda here
it may be different than on your side of the pond
