Barbara Boxer threatened - San Rafael man arrested

A 47-year-old San Rafael man was behind bars Sunday after police said he threatened the life of U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer in a series of voice-mail messages.

According to San Rafael officials, Boxer's office reported receiving the messages after business hours during the week of July 10. Investigators identified the caller as Kevin Joseph O'Connell, who was arrested Saturday morning near his home on East Francisco Boulevard.

O'Connell, whose messages were not described in detail, was arrested and booked into Marin County jail on suspicion of making threats, a felony. His bail was set at $500,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

3. Angry at Boxer? Must be a nut-case. Boxer is such a mild-mannered

person. She has not been a prominent figure in the news lately.

She just does her work conscientiously and doesn't try to incite or excite people.

Strange that someone would threaten her as an individual.
