Critics savage Palin film as audiences stay away in droves
"The Undefeated", a documentary about former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin opened in some theaters across the country this weekend and, if critics are to be believed, it is truly awful. Politico has a round-up of reviews, many of which feature the word "bombast" and include sentiments like this one, expressed by Time magazine's Richard Corliss, "The movie may tempt even the most ardent conservatives to emulate their idol’s tenure as governor and walk out halfway through.”

The Atlantic's Conor Friedersdorf caught the Steve Bannon-directed biopic in a deserted theater in solidly Republican Orange County, California. A pair of young women from out of town wandered into the viewing but didn't know that the film was about Sarah Palin when Friedersdorf asked. An usher demanded to know why he wasn't seeing the new "Harry Potter" movie.

The New York Post's Kyle Smith called "The Undefeated" an "excruciating combination of bombast and whining". Smith, the first professional critic to review the film, is a self-described political conservative. He was perhaps the producers' best hope for a favorable review. When he panned an advance copy of the work, the filmmakers attempted to bar him from its New York premiere.

In spite of the film's poor performance with critics and moviegoers, producers insist that the initial reception has been positive. They cited reports of patches of enthusiastic fans throughout the country and a sold-out showing of "The Undefeated" in Grapevine, Texas.

13. Who can forget Ebert's reveiw of "North"?
http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/19940722/REVIEWS/407220302/1023

"North is one of the most unpleasant, contrived, artificial, cloying experiences I've had at the movies. To call it manipulative would be inaccurate; it has an ambition to manipulate, but fails."
.
.
.
"I hated this movie. Hated hated hated hated hated this movie. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant audience-insulting moment of it. Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like it. Hated the implied insult to the audience by its belief that anyone would be entertained by it."

I'm guessing Ebert would not be as kind to Undefeated

5. Sexists

They didn't say that kind of thing about the Joe Lieberman movie or the John Edwards movie, but suddenly none of the critics like movies promoting failed VP candidates.

It's a sexist double standard.

Oh, and how dare they go after her children like that.

Lol

10. Add "Frankenstein vs. the Spacemonster" to the mix and make an evening ot it!
I'm afraid she's going to make "Plan 9 From Outer Space" start looking good. We of little class (me:hi:) like tacky, but not wretchedly tacky.

9. When you see stuff like this, you wonder if ...
... the folks who talked her into making the movie didn't do it this way on purpose, to show the world what she's really like under the guise of 'we'll make you look great!'

 ... somethin' about putting lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig? ....

11. Rotten Tomatoes has it listed as a ZERO.
I've never seen a 0 (zero) at Rotten Tomatoes.

I love this Audience Review:

"Undefeated?! ROTFLMAO!
She quit in the middle of a term as Governor and LOST her bid for Vice President.
She quit 1/2 way through her "bus tour" too!
Yeah, I'd say that qualifies her as a winner!

12. Just when you thought it wasn't possible,
a 'movie' that's a more odious stinker than Battlefield Earth.
