2009 - CBS announcer: Any U.S. soldier would shoot Pelosi and strangle Reid
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 01:53 PM by grahamhgreen
"CBS golf analyst Feherty: "f you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it... there's a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.""

This is more more evidence that there is a pattern and practice among the right-wing to foster violence against Dems.

I hope the administration finally takes this seriously and uses the full power of the justice department to put an end to inciting people to violence.

This kind of media led hate speech is part of what fostered the Rawandan genocide, and yes, it can happen here.

"According to recent commentators, the news media played a crucial role in the genocide; local print and radio media fueled the killings while the international media either ignored or seriously misconstrued events on the ground.<14> The print media in Rwanda is believed to have started hate speech against Tutsis, which was later continued by radio stations. According to commentators, anti-Tutsi hate speech "...became so systemic as to seem the norm." The state-owned newspaper Kangura had a central role, starting an anti-Tutsi and anti-RPF campaign in October 1990.

In the ongoing International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, the individuals behind Kangura have been accused of producing leaflets in 1992 picturing a machete and asking "What shall we do to complete the social revolution of 1959?""

This last little bit with the machete is very similar to the Palin picture of the gun sights, stating "We've diagnosed the problem... help us prescribe the solution."

2. Yes, he later issued this weak apology:
Edited on Sun Jan-09-11 01:04 PM by grahamhgreen
" has clearly insulted Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Reid, and for that, I apologize," he said. "As for our troops, they know I will continue to do as much as I can for them both at home and abroad."

I guess that was enough for him to keep his job.

7. I have been appalled by that too. So much right wing hate given a pass.
Disgusting that our government thinks it is okay to have the official Armed Forces Radio carry that extremist garbage.

8. I believe every voice has a right to be heard.

But his message is hate and divisiveness. There has to be a line drawn somewhere.

6. Over the next few days, scores of quotes will be found like this one
and NOTHING will be done about it, because killing democratic reps is now the status quo for the M$M.
