MN Reaches Record Dew Points, Extreme Heat Continues
"....Meteorologist Ken Barlow did some checking and found the only other spot in the Western Hemisphere with a dew point in the 80's Sunday was the Amazon Jungle in South America."

It really WAS like the Amazon here yesterday! Right now it's about 97°.

1. Plus entire parking lot of apartment complex flooded with cars underwater,
freeways and various roads flooded, sink hole on an off ramp, train derailed and crumpled over river bridge with diesel fuel spilling into the river, mobile home roof caved in, all from heavy rain Sunday.

Hope the infrastructure holds!

2. It's just bloody awful.
I've been able to be outside for only about five minutes at a time before I start sweating. And that's without actually doing anything. Any actual work is just about impossible. I don't know how the construction people and roofers, etc., are managing.

Yesterday it was so humid that my windows were all fogged up, all over the house, from the air conditioning (which was only at about 75 degrees). That's how bad the dew point was.

11. I kinda like it.
We worked on our shade garden all day yesterday.

The plants, especially the tomatoes are loving it. I think minnesotans just love to complain about the weather - gives 'em something to do when they ain't votin fer Bachmann.

13. So true. Complain all winter long and then, "it's too hot!".
This is extended extreme heat though, and for some people, including myself, can be dangerous.

I would be embracing it like you if my health allowed!

:hi:

p.s. It's not the heat, it's the humidity ;)

33. Bwahahahaha.
Like they say in Arizona when it's a buck 20 in the shade, "it's a dry heat."

"CLEAR!"

26. Wow...
...it looks like I moved away just in time.

The weather has been hot but dry the last three weeks, with only two periods of thunderstorms to break the monotony. Temps in the high 80's and low 90's, humidity in the 40's.

Of course, where I was living, I HAD CENTRAL AIR!!!

Now, I have a fan. And a clip-on fan. Yay....

7. It's been brutal here.
And to top it off, my little sliver of town has been having black-outs because our section of the power grid is old, and has yet to be fixed according to the energy company.

WELCOME TO AMERICA!

9. One of the great things about living in the Great Lakes region is..............

.......typically after a few days of brutal heat/humidity, we get a break. There's no immediate relief in sight with this one. It was 96 with ridiculous humidity in Detroit yesterday.

and not getting any better. On vacation with the kids this week and we're supposed to go to Canada's Wonderland on Thursday. Weather right now shows Thursday as 36C but will feel like 47C with humidity. That's 97F, feeling like 116F.

Yikes.

17. My little animals (not really mine) have all been in hiding. Haven't seen any deer at all. The good
thing is that they have plenty of water from all of the rain we've had here.

My dog is going stir crazy because he can't have his long walks like he usually does. And to top it off, he got into my coffee cup yesterday! He really had energy to burn and nowhere to go. lol

It's been like a sauna here as well. Second morning we've gotten up to fogged windows with water dripping down the outside. I've lived in WI since 1961, and have never seen any thing like this.

of temps above 100F. Our record is 17 consecutive days which was set during the dust bowl era. We are forecast to have 100F+ temps for the next 7 days.

So they say.

Seven more days of 100+ for you? I can't imagine that. Are people just going on about their business as usual, or has it affected a lot of things?

31. This morning the humidity was 88%
according to the Weather Channel. Just walking the block-plus to the bus and the two blocks from bus stop to office made me feel very woozy. Stomach was trying to do a backflip just to add to the unpleasantness.

I can barely keep one room in my apt cool and have to sleep on the couch when it gets this hot and sticky.

32. Here in South Central Minnesota the dew point was 81
this morning. I've never woke up to having the windows sweating on the outside before. Unfortunately this will all be forgotten when it gets to 30 below here this winter, and we'll all hear people bitching that "global warming doesn't exist".
