Not saying it's hot outside but...
Edited on Mon Jul-18-11 03:53 PM by Bluzmann57
The public swimming pool across the street from my house is closed. Nobody is there. Maybe the water is boiling or something.
Now where are all the chuckleheads who deny global climate change? It got real cold this past winter and they said "See? It's cold so there's no global warming!"
Well ladies and gents, it's rip roarin' hot now and I have not heard one global climate change denier. Coburn of Oklahoma stands out in particular since they are setting records down there.
Edited upon reading again because I am a lousy typist.

5. It's a cooker here in St. Paul, MN. I ducked outside to feed the
squirrels and birds. I filled the bird bath. Around 4 PM, I'll set up a sprinkler to cool them off when they visit.

14. Wow it is only 110 in Topeka?
That is great. I live a little South of Topeka and it has been murderous for several weeks now with no break in sight. We are looking at a record number of days, by a long shot, of 100 or over in a row. Every 15 or 20 years something like this happens here, I hope not to see this again. Everyone stay as cool as possible. I am sure you are all as sick of this as I am.

8. You are doing the same thing as the deniers though
One spell of exceedingly hot weather does not prove global warming anymore than one spell of exceedingly cold weather disproves global warming.

Call me a nitpicker, but I cringe whenever people on either side do this. It's average temperature over years that shows climate change. One hot summer spell is scientifically as meaningless as one cold winter.

16. Glad someone pointed that out
I hate it when the wingnuts on Fox say that global warming can't be happening because Baltimore got heavy snow in January. Don't like it any more when our side uses brief bursts of high tempuratures as a method to insist it must be happening.

11. Yes it is
If it gets too hot, you should go and visit friends and/or relatives who have ac or go to a cooling center. This is dangerous heat.

17. It won't get that bad in CT.
I live in a rural area and the lows will still drop to the high 60's/low 70s during the worst of it. It just makes for crappy sleeping.

10. Pretty bad in west central Wisconsin too.
I'd like to line up all of the climate change deniers outside right now, let 'em stand out in the sun a good long while and see if they might just consider that the CLIMATE IS CHANGING! I believe I saw on the Twin Cities news last night that when this current heat wave is over, we will match or overtake the record for days over 90+ set in 1936. That is NOT good news....

Although, unlike the deniers, I hope we know and understand the difference between weather and climate.

27. I think it's frustration at the deniers.
They spent all winter here in Conn. saying Global warming is bunk because we were getting 12-24" snow storms every week. They are just giving them back a taste of their own medicine.

26. One good thing about this heat--I defrosted my freezer in 30 minutes.
My 43 year old Kelvinator (product of American Motors) is still working well although I have to defrost the freezer a couple of times a year. With no air conditioning in my kitchen, this was the perfect time.
