1. Is that squeaky voiced little puke
actually present? He's submitting his marching orders from so far behind the scenes I'm starting to think he's like the Wizard of Oz.

5. I'm upset he didn't mention anything about drowning in a bathtub
Or ask if his pledge would apply at a zero tax rate.

But it was a pretty good smackdown overall.

7. If he gets asked tough questions, he'll fold.
He was on NPR's Diane Rehm Show on Thursday. She tried to pin him down on what he would cut in government -- i.e., which departments he would cut in order to make meaningful changes -- and he would not answer the question. She asked the question bluntly about three times. No answer. So even **he** knows that some things in government cannot be cut, and that sometimes biting the bullet with higher taxes is in order to keep things running.

I am astounded that someone like Grover Norquist has the power through that pissant little "pledge" of his to hold the government hostage and potentially bring it down.

12. Here is why his "pissant little pledge" is so powerful...
Political advertising. The moment one of the weasels breaks "the pledge," our agency will blanket his district with advertising calling him a flip-flopper and a liar. They're still scared shitless of "No new taxes" and what it did to Bush. Why they signed it in the first place is anyone's guess, but the fact is, it's politics. They are just plain chicken shit. What I say is, if you can't take the heat...fuck off and get out of politics. And maybe just govern instead of playing these games.

19. Exactly!
I think that probably most in the GOP know what has to be done, but they're too damned scared of losing their jobs to do it. You're right -- this just shows how fucked up politics is anymore.

And I don't understand why they signed it in the first place, either -- sometimes tough decisions have to be made and signing a promise like that -- basically betting against the unknown as well as common sense -- is just plain foolish. If the debt ceiling isn't raised on the 2nd, a lot of folks in the hinterlands will wake up on the 3rd wishing that it had. And they can thank their protector and defender Grover for whatever happens after that.

24. Everyone that signs his pledge should be asked if his pledge is more
important than the well being of America.

All Republicans should be quizzed about their loyalty to Norquist over the country.

22. Oh, Yes There Is
And there's a bunch of people who don't receive SS payments that want that, too.

Here's what i've heard: He doesn't know anything. He has NO power. He's a puppet who is getting paid handsomely to be the messenger boy. He CAN'T back down now because he is getting paid WAY above his pay grade with no discernable skills or knowledge.

He is NOT the one holding people to the pledge. He's just a front man pulling in a paycheck.

He's a eunuch.

25. I had that question, too, after I moved to Atlanta. "What's a hissy fit?"
The Atlanta receptionist couldn't believe I didn't know. Guess she'd never met a Yankee before.

Anyway, it's a southern thang.
