Dear Jesus Please Make It Rain in Oklahoma
I saw this article today about the Gov. of OK asking for a day of prayer for the dry, hot conditions.

>>CBS News correspondent Cynthia Bowers reports that it's been so hot for so long in Oklahoma, the governor called for a statewide day of prayer in hope of some divine intervention

"I think if we have a lot of people praying, it moves the heart of God," Gov. Mary Fallin says.>>

I can hear the prayer process going something like this

Sinners: Dear GOD, pleas emake it rain in OK. It has been so dry and hot and we really need rain.

GOD: Hey, I've been trying to send warning signals about you idiots really doing horrible things to the beautiful earth I created. You really need to listen to your own experts of the global warming problem.

Sinners: But GOD, Rush Limbaugh and Fox News told us that those experts were all full of crap and not to listen to them.

GOD: (asking himself) Where the hell dod I go wrong in that DNA pool to create a Limbaugh and Rupert Murdoch

1. If God's reading this....
Lord, we've really had more than enough rain for a while here in the Pacific Northwest. Feel free to send some of it South, and allow us to have at least 6 weeks of summer.

Verily and Amen O8)

7. And it never helped, either.
Magical intercessory powers with the gods?

If there IS a god, do you think it needs to
have problems pointed out to it? Wouldn't make
it much of an omnipotent god, would it?

Personally, I tend to
get pissed off when people harangue me about
situations that I am already aware of.

A bit presumptuous.

If it had, I surely would have worn my rain coat.... then I probably wouldn't have needed the antibiotics

20. It did rain in Austin once after Ricky wanted Texans to pray.
It was the day Obama came to town. I don't think anyone brought that point up to Goodhair though.

14. Why not try seeding some clouds
oh, wait...

Might as well ask a native American tribe to do a rain dance, b/c "God" ain't gonna help.

Consider the extreme droughts in North and the Horn of Africa, wouldn't "He" want to help those who are suffering much worse, and for much longer there first?

27. And a Fox news poll asked if it was wrong for her to do so.
Eighteen percent said she shouldn't have done this! I was floored! 18%!!! IN OKLAHOMA! FOX NEWS VIEWERS!

That said, I don't care who prays or doesn't. I don't think it is appropriate for the gov do do what she did, but then again, G-d shows up in all levels of speeches. We are working on our 7th consecutive day of 100+ heat, with heat indexes higher than 110+! When we get a break from the 100 degree level it is usually like 99 or 98. I just checked weather.com and at midnight in Oklahoma, it is a bone-chilling 80 degrees. ;) That's actually was of the lower temps we have had in a few weeks. It is worse right now in my home because one of the a/c units died on us and at one point it was 92 degrees downstairs and 89 upstairs with the air running! The poor doggies are having to lay on the ceramic floor to stay cool.

So, if someone wants to pray..DO IT! I don't care who it is too! Just gives us a little break! As uncomfortable as this for many of us, think of those who are homeless or are living in conditions without any a/c at all. Hell, I will take a cool breeze. The breezes here are hotter than a devil's fart!
