Priority for a new session of congress
I realize that the congress has many "fish to fry" and that non issues, such as the debt limit pop up and take time, staff, etc. I also realize that there are real, pressing problems, such as unemployment, trade policy, etc.

However, I think the number one thing a congress and president could do to improve conditions in this nation in the long term is to seriously limit or completely eliminate private money in political campaigns. I know that Murdererdoch and his minions have their methods for influence but I think that a major, if not THE major reason that many unwise policies have been implemented is because most of congress, the white house, and now the courts are owned by corporate interests and the wealthy. To me, THAT is the reason we seem to run in place and not help the nation. The "national interest" is secondary in every debate and vote. Obviously, I do not think that money is speech. Money is.... well.... money!

I know that almost no repubs would support such a measure. However, how many demo's would support such a law? What would the law look like?
