I wish he would quit comparing himself to GREAT President's. The only POTUS that he compares with is Hoover...except Hoover was better.

9. Yep... there was an old SNL skit by Jon Lovitz that was about lowering your standards... |
|
I tried to believe, I tried hard to get excited back in 2008, I really, really wanted it to be something ground breaking.
And I was excited on election night, you would have to be totally cynical not too be, or a republican or a racist, but as the transition team was assembled and the people he was gathering and the lack of an agenda...
Well, there you have it.

He wasn't someone I was proud to support.
But, the excitement of voting for the first African American President in an African American church was pretty symbolic, to say the least.
And there was a sliver of hope that maybe, just maybe, I was wrong.
But that was quickly swept away when Rahm Emmanuel was appointed....and it has gone downhill from there.

Washington during the Revolution, Lincoln during the Civil War, FDR during the Depression and WW2.
I thought Obama was going to be that transformative figure in our time of runaway capitalism and the crushing of the middle class.

no criminal investigation would be launched in the war crimes and crimes against humanity of the Bush Junta, all in the interests of looking forward.
Or maybe it was when Obama retained Gates as Defense Secretary and nominated Hilary as Sec of State. So much for 'change we can believe in.' More like 'chains we can believe in.'

After he is finished fucking over Medicare and SS to save the bondholders, he will not have a chance. If he thinks he's going to be able to spin this positive, he is absolutely delusional insane.
I will cheerfully vote against him if he betrays us.

Who are you talking to? I'm 64 years old and voted for the first time in 1968 for Humphrey. Unless you're a young guy who doesn't know crap, you will remember that was the year Bobby Kennedy was killed or I'd have been voting for him, which was my first choice until it was taken away by some asshole with a gun.
Don't be so anxious to point the finger because you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

44. Loved the msnbc interview with Frank Rich (today) about how he just took TOO LONG to ... |
|
...get started.
My wife and I had noticed that as well. He got elected, passed a bunch of stuff, then disappeared for about 4 or 5 months. (And I swear I saw him at some warehouse in Ohio slurring his words! Seriously, maybe it was a cold or something but I really thought he may have crumpled under the pressure and gone on a bender. Who knows.)
Then the health care debates draggggged on and by the time THAT was over (a year later) "Citizens United" had been passed, then November Elections and now the recession was in full bloom and the Republicans are howling at the gates of the White House. I know running for office is draining, I guess, but he should have hit them and hit them and hit them and hit them and hit them and hit them and handed the bat to someone while he sipped some water then hit them and hit them and hit them again, never stop.
Now he's playing catch up and it's too late for many people.
Also, he's a centrist and always was. Not everyone's cup of tea. Whatever.
He's head and shoulders above ANY of the Republican Scumbags in office.
