Stess-related condition ‘incapacitates’ Bachmann; heavy pill use alleged
In late July 2010, Rep. Michele Bachmann’s then-communications director, Dave Dziok, told his boss that he planned to take a new job with the public relations firm Edelman.

Dziok had worked for Bachmann for two and a half years, a relatively long period by the standards of her office, and was leaving on good terms.

Staff turnover can frustrate any employer, but Bachmann responded more dramatically. Dziok’s departure triggered a debilitating medical episode that landed the congresswoman in urgent care.

“Within 24 hours she was in the hospital,” a former aide says.

Bachmann was admitted to a Washington, D.C. hospital on Friday, July 30, and released that same day. She flew home to Minnesota to recuperate, missing a scheduled campaign event with Sen. Roy Blunt.

(snip)

The Minnesota Republican frequently suffers from stress-induced medical episodes that she has characterized as severe headaches. These episodes, say witnesses, occur once a week on average and can “incapacitate” her for days at time. On at least three occasions, Bachmann has landed in the hospital as a result.

at middle age, hair starts going grey regardless on most people. My Mr had dark brown hair when I met him 15 years ago, now he's white and very thin on top. Basically same age as the chimperor.

My reply was to someone who claimed that the only *Resident who didn't age was W.

He did age, so that statement was not true.

Anyway, I don't know what happened with my hair. I'm 58 and it's pretty nearly the same color it was 15 years ago when Mr P and I got married. A few grays here and there, but on the whole they're not really noticeable... :)

Between the foot-in-mouth disease, the husband so deep in the closet that he smells like mothballs, the insane commentary (the one where she said her husband "commanded her" to become a tax attorney is priceless--what else does he command her to do? Look the other way when he hustles the pool boy?) and of course, her stupidity and "chutz-pah" I'm amazed that the media is stringing her along for this long.

I think they're hoping for something totally tabloid-y and noxious as we get into the start of the race....anything to sell papers and mags.

29. This could explain allot
I went and read the entire article (recommended). This sounds like a little more than migraines and if true, certainly should be considered by her party before they send her out there running for President. From the sound of this article there is no way she is going to be able to withstand what she is about to face in the primaries, let alone when she goes up against the President and he calls her out on all her lies.

It also explains so much - crouching under trees, calling police over the "lesbian stalker", facing the wrong camera for a WHOLE interview, confusing her facts, blanking out when confronted on lies, and of course, the Bachmann Crazy Eyes.

She needs to drop out. This is just going to get bigger and with the other racist, homophobic stuff coming out she clearly won't be able to handle the "stress".

Bye Bye Michelle

37. lol! i get migraines roughly 2 out of every 3 days, but... "incapacitated"??
yeah, once upon a time, my migraines used to incapacitate me, back when i got them about once a month.

then after a car accident my migraines became far more frequent. i could no longer allow myself to be incapacitated, so i learned how to function with a migraine. meds help, but a lot of it is simply spock-like there-is-no-pain mind over matter. the pain doesn't go away, of course, but i can detach from it and focus on work or whatever instead of focusing on the pain.

and that's only because i want to keep an ordinary job and have a life outside a dark, quiet room. if i wanted to be president, i'd sure as shinola sort this one out first!

42. You're lucky your
migraines have been the kind you can learn to function with. From what I read in the article it sounds like she might get the kind of migraine I get - and mind over matter/pain does not stand a chance with them. The only treatment that works once it is full blown is heavy intravenous pain medication like Demerol or morphine - enough to knock me out, with repeat doses needed until the headache ends.

It is a very rare migraine type called Status Migrainosus (possibly caused by repeated head/brain trauma). They last for at least 3 days with the most outrageous, unfathomable, unrelenting pain. They remain peaked throughout the entire episode, more painful than that crescendo level that a really bad normal migraine gets to right before throwing up or before it begins to subside. There is never a moment of relief throughout the entire headache including the vomiting. It is so awful I wish for death. It is so awful I am always shocked when it doesn't kill me. And there are a whole slew of other symptoms that go along with it.

If Bachmann gets this type of migraine there isn't a chance in hell she should be allowed anywhere near the Whitehouse.

47. my migraines ARE that severe
without my meds, or when the med fail (which happens quite a bit) they virtually always last at least all day, and often into a second or third day. my migraines ALWAYS make me feel like i'm about to throw up, although i only actually do a few times a year.

i ALWAYS feel like someone's poking a screwdriver about an inch or two into my temple, or that a butcher's knife has been wedged inside my brain from temple to temple.

it took YEARS of figuring out how to function with them.

They are looking for a sociopath, someone vacuous, completely programmable and who appeals to the right of the right of the right. If technology could create a realistic robot, or they could create a virtual president, they would do that in a heartbeat.

but...like you said...he played through it.

Which is why I'm finding it ironic that so many here are assuming that Ms Bachmann couldn't do the same.

I wonder what they would think about someone who suffers from, say, anxiety disorders. Would they be as dismissive about the governing abilities of someone with a panic disorder?

What sort of disability would render someone completely incapable of performing in the job of president...

Are there disabilities that are acceptable for Democrats but not for Republicans? (I don't expect you to answer this question, BTW)

anyway, yes. JFK was taken from us way too soon. He was one of the heroes of my childhood.

69. Scene: 2 am, sometime during a Michele Bachmann presidency:
Security officer on duty in the White House: "We have a situation that requires an immediate decision by the President. I need to brief her immediately."

Personal staffer: "The President retired early this evening with a headache. She has taken her migraine medication. I'll see if I can get her attention."

Security officer: "It's urgent - it may even require a decision regarding the football."

Personal staffer: "Oh my gosh. OK, let me see what I can do. You'd better come in with me so as not to waste time."

Security officer: "Madame President, we have an urgent situation - ______________* . . . . . oh shit, she's gone fetal on us."

Yeah, I can totally see that happening.
