Kansas City investigating 10 possible heat-related deaths

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Health Department is investigating another possible heat-related death.

The death of a 57-year-old woman is the 10th possible heat death in the metropolitan area. Investigators have not confirmed that heat directly caused any of the deaths.

The intense heat wave that has enveloped the state shows no signs of abating. The National Weather Service says most of Missouri and Kansas is under an excessive-heat warning until 7 p.m. Saturday.

Daytime highs are expected to be close to or above 100. Combined with the humidity, the heat index will be 106 to 111. ........(more)
