The Note: Straw Poll Shake Up?: Bachmann Under Scrutiny, Rick Perry Backtracks

By MICHAEL FALCONE (@michaelpfalcone) and AMY WALTER (@amyewalter)

Is Michele Bachmann healthy enough to be president? That is the question raised by a new Daily Caller story quoting several former aides to the Minnesota congresswoman who say she is prone to “debilitating” migraine headaches that have landed her in the hospital and rendered her unable to perform her official duties at times.

“These episodes, say witnesses, occur once a week on average and can ‘incapacitate’ her for days at time. On at least three occasions, Bachmann has landed in the hospital as a result,” writes the Daily Caller’s Jonathan Strong, quoting sources who refused to be identified. http://bit.ly/oKS1Nr
“‘The migraines are so bad and so intense, she carries and takes all sorts of pills,” one of the unnamed sources told the Daily Caller. “Prevention pills. Pills during the migraine. Pills after the migraine, to keep them under control. She has to take these pills wherever she goes.”

A source who has worked closely with Bachmann over the past few years confirms to ABC that Bachmann does get migraines that have put her in the hospital. This source said that the “medication part of the story is way overblown,” but does acknowledge that it will be important for the Minnesota Congresswoman to come forward with her medical history.

The Bachmann camp's response to the story, according to the Daily Caller: "Alice Stewart, a spokeswoman for Bachmann, said 'she suffers from migraines and they’re under control with medicine.' Stewart contested descriptions of the episodes as 'incapacitating' Bachmann but did not specify how the descriptions were wrong. 'The information you have is incorrect,' Stewart said. She declined to discuss Bachmann’s hospital visits at all, saying, 'I’m not going to go into her medical history.'" ....

14. I was thinking the opposite - looks like she's off her meds.
A regular dose of Clozapine seems to be in order.

2. They occur once a week & incapacitate her for days at a time?
So basically, she is incapacitated a majority of the time every week?

And that's just in regards to her headache.

7. That might be part of the explanation of some of the truly delerious
statements she makes.

I am reminded of the "worst person in the world" segment from Keith last night... where Michele earned herself the SECOND place prize for her 2006 prediction within a public prayer to God, that "the end of the world is at hand", or something close to that.

3. Sometimes the God Station in here head isn't tuned in properly and all she gets is static.
So Bachmann is a pill popper? Did she try praying first?

9. So does this mean most of her term would be filled under the 25th amendment...
if she is taking that many medications she has a problem & its apparent in her speech an mannerisms. I'm not saying all who have this medical condition are problematic but many do get hooked on increasingly more and more medications as a crutch. If she is being hospitalized then she fits in that category. I had several friends that went way off course seeking better and better combinations of self medication and even got multiple Dr's to prescribe stuff that made them less able to function.

lots of info out there in the internet land.....its a serious problem that strong medications make things worse.

11. She should try medical marijuana for those
MMJ makes the pain go away and stops the nausea immediately. She can titrate her dose by using a vaporizer b/c inhaling is the way the pain stops within minutes and she can adjust her dose as necessary. She may be able to take a short nap and wake up without any more pain.

once she is acclimated to the other experience of cannabis, the change in perception that lasts for a couple of hours, she can go about her life as usual.

this medicine is safe and effective for most people and, as a legislator, she can make it possible for other Americans to be able to also use it to stop migraine pain and the disruption it causes in someone's work life.

I hope she tries this and that her experience can lead her to help end the war on cannabis. I say this in a humane way because migraine pain is debilitating and it's a shame that she and others cannot legally access this safe medicine to alleviate this pain.

17. She should release her medical records. I have heard there have been claims made that the Bachmanns

vacationed in the Dominican Republic with Rush Limbaugh on a week long bender of pina coladas, group sex, and oxycontin.

Now as to whether these reports were intended to be factual statements or not...

Migraines can be horrible if you don't have them under control, especially if you have a stressful life and career.

24. I get migraines
Fortunately not often. The Imitrex I take works well but I do think it drops my IQ by about 50 points for about 24 hours.

Maybe this explains Michele's stupid. If she doesn't have much going for her to begin with adding a dose of Imitrex would probably give her the IQ of Cool WHip.
