Pssst...here is how you compromise, Obama

You don't give away people's LIVES in order not to get YOUR ass kicked...because here is the truth. It is YOUR ass being kicked--politically speaking--and honestly, I could care less about you or the state of your job or your pride. Deal with the embarrassment on your own time and terms and leave the government out of it.

Unfortunately, these are the republicans and toddler rules apply. Google it if you don't know what Toddler Rules are.

But, with that fancy Harvard education and my on-the-cheap state school education...let me tell you how to negotiate with toddlers.

First off, pick a number...any number. Rules are, for every dollar in spending cut, a dollar must be given in tax increases.

Each side gets to pick THREE sacred cows from existing PROGRAMS. Tax cuts don't count. Groups of people don't count. As it would go, yours are already picked for you. Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. And take those off the table.

The republicans get to pick their own three sacred cows and remove them from the table.

So say, the number is $100 trillion dollars. Each side has to give up $100 trillion dollars in spending cuts...and each side has to offer up $100 trillion in tax increases.

See, what this does Mr. President, is definitely outlines to the VOTERS who the Democrats saved and who the republicans saved.

If you do the right thing, you walk away the winner...but compromise and shared sacrifice indicate and dictate that each side is giving up something important to them and each side is protecting something important.

Here is the best part. You don't have to sit in the same room with them to do this. If they refuse to do this, they look like the obstructionists that they are.

Agree on your number, get your advisers and start picking and choosing.

It really isn't that hard, is it?

edited for punctuation.

2. Well put. But I must say, you need to put a comma after 'compromise' -
otherwise the lead sounds like "This is how you can compromise Obama" rather than "Obama, this is how you compromise".

5. You don't leave much. If they pick defense then youve got 20% left.

So you'd have to cut things like education and food stamps and assistance to the poor and infrastructure and the NIH and the EPA.

That probably is the choice though...funding the entitlements or funding federal government functions.

The problem as you can see is most of government is what Democrats want.
