Can anyone win an election on Raising taxes and cutting entitlements?
Let alone a democrat?

Sounds like a strategy for failure to me.

Can anyone talk me down?

1. Democrats can't; Republicans can.
But then the Rs have MSM explaining how they're saving SS, and they have voting machines, not to mention county clerks with super-secret vote tabulating programs.

2. They can't win my vote by cutting entitlements.
But they sure could by raising taxes on the wealthy.

4. Only if the other party is going to continue unpopular taxes and threaten
to eliminate those entitlements. Only if it is the lesser of two evils.

7. Why not?
The Fascist Govs of 2010 won on a platform of union-busting, Reaganomics, government fire-a-thons (which is why the jobs numbers are so shitty for the most part) and overall economic regression.

Of course, America's electorate, judging by the fact that we've only had three Democratic presidents (only one of which was an actual Democrat) in 44 years, ain't exactly the people to ask on this. Their groins are pretty much in pain from all the kicking they've received in 31 years.

8. Florida Governor Rick Scott has done just that.

What he hasn't cut out altogether in state services ("entitlements") he has increased in regressive taxes.
