Say Murdoch's operation is proven to have committed similar crimes in the US.
What are the chances Murdoch will be in front of the nation apologizing over and over again to the people given that he has subjected the American public to the constant abusive blue journalism of the likes of Beck, Hannity, and O'Reilly? Or that rag, the NY Post? I doubt we would hear from him at all since he so totally owns so many.

2. No apologies to the US, no coming before Congress...
with the way our politicians are they will more than likely apologize to him for all the "lame-stream media" unjustly persecuting St. Murdoch.

4. If Murdoch did apologize in front of Congress, Joe Barton would admonish us
to leave poor Rupert alone and Alito's wife would sit behind him crying.

Thanks for the thread, Dappleganger.

3. They already have...
and settled for a lot of money. It just does not matter over here. Check out the article posted here yesterday : http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/18/business/media/for-news-corporation-troubles-that-money-cant-dispel.html?_r=4&pagewanted=1&hp

5. about the same as his chance
of being arrested for such crimes. Zero, zip , zilch, nada. He's too rich, powerful and well connected to be subject to anything as pedestrian as "laws" like the little people are.

I remember watching a youtube video a couple years ago with John Cleese talking about what in idiot bu$h was. In one part of the video he spoke about his perception of American attitudes toward the very wealthy. I can't remember the exact words he used but the thrust of it was that we are "admirably tolerant" of our hyper-wealthy.

I'm beginning to think more and more that our excessive tolerance of our robber baron class is going to ultimately be our undoing. They have been allowed to set themselves up as demigods in our society.... some days I just don't see a way out for us :(
