When people have expectations, and those expectations slow or are not met, they get frustrated
I am not talking about political expectations, but ones like a job, a home, food, etc.

Now that these are quickly becoming out of reach for even the Upper Middle Class, people are getting angry

Of course this frustration rarely results in productive action - but make no mistake, it will result in action

One an explain the 60's in this fashion: things were slowly starting to get better for minorities and women. But the pace of change stopped, and the expectations were not met. Add to it the ongoing war in Vietnam, and there you have it.

Today, that same frustration is being felt in all strata of society. The last time there was this much frustration, Socialist and Communist party memberships swelled, and you had events like the 1933 Wisconsin milk strike where farmers refused to accept depressed prices for milk.

Although Jay Gould was right when he said you can pay one half of the poor and desperate to kill off the other half, eventually this unravels, and the security forces turn on their master. If you want to see a historical example of this, the Fall of Rome depicts this perfectly. The majority of "Barbarians" who encircled Rome and then sacked it were ex-mercenaries, who were paid to keep the barbarians out of Rome.

1. I wonder if the pace of change was rigged via ALEC, Chamber of Commerce, Corporate
Internationals, etc...

6. Last thing they want is change
I honestly think Obama thought he could talk them into change for the sake of the country

When they said 'no' over golf that day, he kept trying

2. I predicted this two years ago...
When Obama said for the very first time that recovery is going to be long and painful. People can handle only so much desperation without exploding somehow. The summer heat will add to this, no question. Being whipped to an evil froth by Pubbies on a daily basis hasn't helped at all, and the critics of the POTUS on both sides are harmonious in their anger.

Steve Earle was right. We need Woody Guthrie.

It's Christmastime in Washington
The Democrats rehearsed
Gettin' into gear for four more years
Things not gettin' worse
The Republicans drink whiskey neat
And thanked their lucky stars
They said, 'He cannot seek another term
They'll be no more FDRs'
I sat home in Tennessee
Staring at the screen
With an uneasy feeling in my chest
And I'm wonderin' what it means

Chorus:
So come back Woody Guthrie
Come back to us now
Tear your eyes from paradise
And rise again somehow
If you run into Jesus
Maybe he can help you out
Come back Woody Guthrie to us now

I followed in your footsteps once
Back in my travelin' days
Somewhere I failed to find your trail
Now I'm stumblin' through the haze
But there's killers on the highway now
And a man can't get around
So I sold my soul for wheels that roll
Now I'm stuck here in this town

Chorus

There's foxes in the hen house
Cows out in the corn
The unions have been busted
Their proud red banners torn
To listen to the radio
You'd think that all was well
But you and me and Cisco know
It's going straight to hell

So come back, Emma Goldman
Rise up, old Joe Hill
The barracades are goin' up
They cannot break our will
Come back to us, Malcolm X
And Martin Luther King
We're marching into Selma
As the bells of freedom ring

7. The first indicator to pick up...
No surprise. The money is out there, it's just being hoarded.

The wild fluctuations took a very long time to settle down, and still the market is on shaky ground. Every little hiccup and the market moves. That instability is telling.
