From Clinton to Palin to Bachmann: Why some Dems now support GOP women

After Clinton's failed Oval Office bid, Siskind and a small group of women who had supported Clinton decided the best way to break the glass ceiling in presidential politics was to put ideology and partisanship aside and support any woman seeking a top political office -- including Bachmann and Palin, two darlings of the tea party movement known for their conservative views on economic and social issues.

Siskind, who has voted Democrat in the past, helped found The New Agenda, a nonpartisan women's advocacy group that united many women who were disappointed after Clinton's defeat.

"We decided that in order to take women forward," said Siskind, "we would have to be a voice for all women -- so put political party and the issue of abortion aside because those were the two issues that were dividing women in half."

Looks like some women think they're "owed" a woman President no matter what it does to the country.

6. Well, You Just Said A Mouthful! And As One Of The Democratic Left I'd
say "watch out" to any who is thinking this way or listening that a WOMAN is what is needed. BTW, I was not a Hillary supporter, she has always been to the RIGHT of me. However, I do feel she's very intelligent and will achieve most of all she wants. My thoughts are that she might just want to retire and spend time with her daughter and family.

But then that may not be the case at all. My wish would be that she get on board to help this country get BACK ON TRACK and help those in America who are suffering because of what D.C. is unable and/or lacking to do for it's very own citizens.

I am ONE very upset and disillusioned American citizen who feels more and more that we have been FORGOTTEN by too, too many in POWER! It's nothing less than disgusting that we've been made to feel WE are the problem.

Perhaps I should say I'm sorry for being so upset, but I simply can't find it in me to ask forgiveness because I see so much going wrong. I see so many in power and those who are supposed to represent the people simply looking down their noses and essentially saying "let them eat cake!" Been going on so long now that I really find it hard to feel optimistic about what may get done to save this country.

And before anyone tells me to GET INVOLVED, I'll just say I've fought the good fight for more years than I like to admit. Now, I know NOT what to do!

11. No you're correct too...
Obama's presidency has been a mixed bag.

But the PUMAs from the 2008 election were outed a while back as Republican shills, and "democrats" who had just joined

Divide and conquer

4. "And the Democrats are throwing the election away...for what? An inadequate black male?!?"
Clinton Supporter Goes Off at Commitee Meeting

And she ain't the only one. The concept of putting race or gender or any other superficial aspect of a candidate before that candidate's beliefs and positions is lunacy. And it's also horribly racist, sexist, etc. depending on what the superficial quality is.

Vaginas or penises or white skin or black skin or wrinkly skin or smooth skin doesn't make the candidate. The ideas do.

7. They certainly want to make sure NO WOMAN EVER
GETS ELECTED AGAIN if either of these women made it to the White House. They are not good representatives of good, competent women...they are a bit too stupid and represent what many see as a stereotypical flighty woman...just what we need to represent us...

8. PUMAs aren't feminists.
Not interested in women getting equal rights on all levels. They want access to power through their candidate.

10. Agreed.
As a feminist I don't vote based on what genitals a candidate has. I'd vote for a man that's a strong women's rights supporter than someone like Palin or Bachmann any day.

17. I think it's an insult to Hillary...
and all Dem/Liberal women to jump from Hillary to the likes of Palin or Bachmann. I don't know any Dem women that think these two represent them. They hate feminism and everything it stands for.

I never understood the jump from Hillary to Palin...

22. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck.. etc etc etc... as a woman
just because we share like body parts.. does not mean I toss aside my moral compass to vote with my uterus.

Just because someone once voted as a Democrat in an election.. does NOT make them a Democrat.

Just saying
