Rangers take steps to making ballpark safer
Associated Press

Arlington, Texas— The Texas Rangers have taken the first steps toward making their ballpark safer following the death of a fan during a recent game.

The club announced Tuesday plans to raise the height of all rails in front of the seating areas "to the highest standard in the United States at this time." It was not immediately clear how high that would be, or how soon it would be done. A news conference at the stadium was planned for later in the afternoon.

On July 8, Shannon Stone fell headfirst 20 feet onto concrete trying to catch a ball tossed by a player, and died within an hour. Another fan fell over a railing last year but was not seriously injured.
The Rangers' next home game is Friday night.

1. They're not going to put GWB in a cage so he doesn't hurt himself?

2. their rails are the same as every other MLB parks an built to code...
maybe just install chain link fence 20' high?

A little bit of personal responsibility might be prudent.

3. Railings?
I'm sure they discussed it with him.
'Dumbya, if we make the railings in the park half the height we can save money.'

'That sounds great Brownie, good job,' W smirks, 'Why don't we use that money to gold plate the carpet in my private box.'

'Dumbya, I don't think we can do that, besides I think that would mess up the carpet.'

W thinks about it and sighs, 'But I wanted a gold plated carpet.' He then smiles, 'I know, lets gold plate Uncle Dick's heart.'

'Sir, Mr. Cheney's heart is sitting on Satan's desk...'

'Well, shit,' W frowns, 'Screw it, I want the gold carpet.'

'Yes sir, it will be great.'
